

Roy Newton Hines Jr. (affectionately known as "Brother"), a lifelong resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025. Roy was a graduate of Starke Military Academy and dedicated his professional life to his work as a painter, known for his craftsmanship and commitment to excellence.
Roy was born on June 23, 1933, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Roy Newton Hines Sr. and Lilian Dean Hines. Throughout his life, Roy was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, demonstrating his strong faith and compassion to all who knew him. Known widely as a gifted storyteller and joke teller, Roy brought laughter and joy to those around him—always ready with a humorous tale or witty remark. Just ask him about "Falling Rock."
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Newton Hines Sr. and Lilian Dean Hines, and his sister Virginia Hines Lurie.
Roy is survived by his loving sister, Sarah Hines; nephew Rob Lurie (wife Christy), their son Austin, daughter Ashley Robinson, and son-in-law Fischer Robinson; niece Sandy Lurie and her children, Nicole Adams (husband Aubrey) and Caleb Waddell; and great-nieces Harper and Annabelle Adams. Roy was also deeply grateful for his dedicated caregivers Jaunia Pearson, Jessica Flowers, and Walter Gordon.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, with visitation starting at 10:30 AM and funeral starting at 11:00 AM. Roy will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will forever cherish his memory.
