
Ruth Frances Worthington, 94, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015. A Family graveside service will be held in Birmingham. Ruth was born in Donald Victoria, Australia on June 2, 1920 and was the youngest of five siblings all raised by her parents Percival and Winifred Bicknell. In her early years she lived with her Family in a small town near Melbourne where she spent many a day swimming in the rivers and bays and attending Catholic schools. While working in Brisbane, Australia during WWII for the Us Army Air Corp she met and married Capt W.J. Worthington Jr. After cessation of wartime activities in Australia she traveled with her husband to his home in Alabama and later proudly becoming a naturalized American citizen. During her more than fifty years in Montgomery, Alabama she enjoyed gardening, golf, tennis and many visits to Dune Allen, Florida.
Preceding her in death is her husband William J. Worthington Jr. She is survived by three children, Carol Worthington Peek (Jack) of Solana Beach, California, William J. Worthington, III of Troy, Ohio, John C. Worthington (Beth) of Montgomery, Alabama and five grandchildren Jacob Worthington, Jordan Worthington, Samuel Worthington, Matthew Worthington and Ella Frances Worthington.
During the last several years following her husband’s death she was wonderfully cared for and warmly befriended by caregivers Doris Zeigler, Susan Franks, Catherine Nelson, Joann Glenn, Tina Glenn, Diane Pearson and Carolyn Glenn along with Cara Vita Staff including Juan Baldwin and Bernard Lewis.
