Sarah Ann Gilmer

Sarah Johnson Gilmer, of Prattville AL, was born August 11th, 1939, to her parents, Roy M. Johnson & Frances Trammell Johnson of Hurtsboro, AL. She passed away on June 7th,2023. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Chip H. Gilmer of Montgomery, AL. She is survived by her son, Paul (Jeania) Spivey of Prattville, AL, Daughter, Elaine Spivey Green, of Hartselle, AL, Sister, Sandra (Jim) Clark of Florida, Brother, Roy Donald (Rosemary) Johnson of Hurtsboro, AL, & Sister-In-Law, Tracey French of Snowden, AL. Grandchildren: John Green, Scarlett Spivey, Susan (Brent) Fratesi, Corey (Tessa) Green, Candi Townsel, Mandy Townsel, eighteen great-grandchildren, six nieces, one nephew, four great nieces, & two great nephews. Sarah was a member of Catoma Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. In lieu of flowers, you may send any donations to Catoma Baptist Church at 4300 Old Selma Rd., Montgomery, AL 36108 – 5624. She was also a recognized employee of the Montgomery County Probate Office for 30 years.

We would like to express our appreciation to all who have been on this journey with Sarah for the past year and a half, those who have helped her feel more comfortable, and at peace. For all of those with the Hospice team, Thank you. A big thank you to our two Caregivers, Zoe Clem and Melinda Wilson, who have been with her since March of last year, you are like family to her and us. She absolutely loved you girls, and she thought the world of y’all. And to all her friends that have been here often, and had brightened her days; Penny Richards, Betty Brown, Deloris Clark, Brother Mike Golson, Elisabeth Spivey, and Teresa & Burt Pitts, all of you were so precious to her heart. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Leak Memory Chapel at 11:00 am with Rev. Mike Golson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
