Shelby Jean Bennett

Ms. Shelby Jean Bennett passed away at Baptist East Hospital in Montgomery, AL. on Monday, October 28, 2024 at the age of 82. Ms. Shelby Jean Bennett was born on March 1,1942 in Wedowee, AL. to the late Vader Mulkey.

She was preceded in death by her mom Vader Mulkey, and Brother Morris Kirby. Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memories are her devoted son and daughter, Robert(Katie) and Pamela Luckie; Siblings Jim(Shirley) Kirby of Georgia, Also, special sister-In-laws, Barbara Kirby, Georgia. Grandchildren, Michael(SaraBeth), Tammie Beals, Katelyn & Lauren Perry. Four Great Grandchildren, Nevaeh and Kali Wiley, Brody Beals, and Kobe Rowe. She was loved by a host of family –aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and church members and friends.

She was a stage 3 Breast Cancer Survivor. She enjoyed traveling, church activities and volunteering at church, Baptist East Hospital, and Montgomery Cancer Center. She loved people, plants, church, and Jesus. She enjoyed what she did and always had a smile on her face. When with family and friends you could always find her smiling, laughing, and having a good time.

She enjoyed cooking, daily walks, attending church, working in the yard, Alabama football, taking pictures, listening to music, reading the Bible and praying. She was very popular at Dalraida Baptist Church and enjoyed being involved in the church choir, attending Sunday school and attending Bible study.

Jean had a successful career life. She worked in Banking/Finance in various locations throughout her career. She retired from Regions Bank in Montgomery, AL.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Harold Cox and to Purple Keys Home Care Services for all the compassionate care and assistance provided to Ms. Jean.

Services for Ms. Bennett will be held on Saturday, November 2nd., 2024 with visitation beginning at 2PM and service at 3PM at Dalraida Baptist Church at 3838 Wares Ferry Rd, Montgomery, AL, Pastor Tommy Fike, Officiating, with interment at Leak Memory Cemetery, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL. 36109.
