Shirley Jean Farris

Shirley Jean Farris (momma) received her angel wings on December 27, 2024. She rejoins her mother and father, sisters and brother and her beloved husband, “Reggie.” She was born to Elton Ezra and Lou Stewart on May 23, 1934. She was the youngest of 3 siblings. This was much to the dismay of her much older siblings, in particular, her sisters at the time. Momma was well loved by her family and all who knew her. Soon her sisters warmed up to the idea and spent their time spoiling their much younger, baby sister. Shirley met her husband in grade school and went on to date and marry him later in life. Reginald, my father, said, “I fell in love with her in grade school when I saw that long blond hair.” Mother was the beauty queen at their school in Hornbeck, Louisiana. Years after marriage my mother and father received a gift from God, a baby. They named me Jo. My mother adored me, and I loved the woman I knew to be momma. She was my rock in many ways. The best momma a girl could have. Time takes its toll on a person, and momma has suffered long. She is so proud to be home at last. She leaves behind her daughter Jo Doyal, (husband Larry Doyal), an adopted daughter, Sheryl Lynn Young, two adopted grandsons Anthony Ryan Bonci, (wife Jessica Lashea Bonci) and Zachary Benjamin Bonci (wife Krissie Bonci) and her niece, Jill D. Cantrell. Momma wants to thank you all for your love and support. Lynn thanks is given for your kindness and steadfast loyalty and friendship to momma and her daughter. Ryan and Zach it was the greatest honor of mother’s life to be entrusted with your raising. She would tell us all as she has told her only child by birth many times do not forget Jesus. Jesus is your salvation and hope of a life everlasting!

A friends and family visitation for Shirley will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 10:00 AM at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service at 11:00 AM. Mrs. Farris will be laid to rest in Hornbeck, LA at a later date.
