Stephen Albert Starr III

Stephen Albert Starr III, age 76, of Prattville, Alabama passed away on Wednesday February 26, 2025. Steve was born on September 25, 1948, in Ogden, Utah, into a military family, and finally settled in Montgomery, Alabama. He received his commission into the Army as a 2nd Lt., following the completion of his studies at Auburn University. Steve trained to be a medic and spent time in Korea. After leaving the Army, he spent 39 years at the State of Alabama Revenue Department, as a Foreign Audit Specialist.

Steve was an avid reader and loved to travel to other countries. He went on several Navy Tiger Cruises with his son. He was a Mason and a member of Alcazar Shriners in Montgomery.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Albert Starr, Jr. his mother, Shirley Jeanne Wetzel Starr, his son, Joel Lane Corcoran, and his brother, Jeffrey Scott Starr. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sherrell Annette Headley Starr, and daughter-in-law, Caress. A beloved Grandpa, he is survived by his three grandchildren, Brendan, Carter and Lyla. Also, several nieces and nephews survive him.

A visitation for Steve will be held Monday, March 10, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM and then a graveside service afterwards, with Pastor Janet Krantz officiating.
