

Dr. Williams was born on November 12, 1919 in Wetumpka, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Col. Thomas H. Williams, Sr. and Jessie Moody Williams; his wife of 55 years, Julie Paul Williams of Waterloo, Iowa; his sister, Betty Gober Schipp, and his grandson Cameron Scott Williams. He leaves behind five children and their spouses: Amy Williams Adams (Roy), Dr. Thomas H. Williams, III, (Penny), Julie Williams Downes (Jack), Ray Paul Williams (Susan), and Barbara Williams Littlepage (Tom). Also, he is survived by his 13 grandchildren: Roy Adams III, (Amy), Meredith Adams Johnson (Will), Melissa Williams Taylor (Robert), Walt Williams (Holly), Lindsey Williams Andrews (Eric), Natalie Williams Dauchy (Kurt), Jessica Lawson Mure’ (Joey), Lee Lawson (Regan), Parker Williams (Julia), Chandler Williams, Jennifer Littlepage Dismukes (Brandon), Scott Littlepage (Catherine), Joel Littlepage (Melissa), and 36 great grandchildren.
Dr. Williams is a graduate of Marion Institute, the University of Alabama, Vanderbilt School of Medicine, the University of Chicago Medical School, and the University of Iowa Medical School. During World War II, Dr. Williams was a medical officer in the US Army as Chief of Urology at the 42nd General Hospital in occupied Japan. After the war, he remained in the Army Reserves and retired with the rank of Colonel.
As a Urologist practicing in Montgomery for over 43 years, Dr. Williams was always committed to excellence and compassion for his patients. He served as President of the medical staff at Jackson Hospital and Chief of Staff at Baptist Hospital of Montgomery. Dr. Williams also served as President of the Montgomery Rotary Club, Montgomery County Board of Health, the Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Shepherd’s Staff Advisory Board, and the Save-A-Life Advisory Board. “Dr. Tommy” served as an Elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church and as the Pastor’s Assistant at Young Meadows Presbyterian Church. During his retirement years, he served on the Board and volunteered at Canaan Land Ministries and Boys Home. In addition, he devoted himself to teaching Sunday School and leading Bible studies in small groups, retirement facilities, and local homeless shelters.
Other honors included national President of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, President of the Phi Chi Medical Fraternity, member of Phi Beta Kappa scholastic fraternity, and member of Alpha Epsilon Delta honorary fraternity at the University of Alabama. Dr. Williams also enjoyed his years as a Captain and King of the Krewe of the Phantom Host Organization.
After a private family burial, a celebration of life and memorial service will be held at Young Meadows Presbyterian Church at 5780 Vaughn Road on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm. Pallbearers are Dr. Williams’ seven grandsons.
A special appreciation is given to Angels for the Elderly for providing such loving care for Dr. Williams.
