"Veda Ann Fiffis Johnson was born and raised in Columbus, GA and a long time resident of Montgomery, AL. She peacefully went home to be with the Lord on January 21, 2022, surrounded by family. She is survived by her daughters, Melanie May, Stefanie Taylor Strickland (Steve Strickland) and Tisha Leigh Brookshire. She is also survived by her grandchildren Caroline Strickland, Brett Brookshire (Bradleigh, daughter), Victoria Vasquez, and Colton Brookshire (Ashleigh, wife), as well as stepsons, Donald Lee (Tristie Johnson, wife, deceased), Stanley Walter Johnson, Keith Todd (Anita Johnson, wife), and Michael Clark Johnson. Christopher Patrick is a step-brother to all step-sons and is married to Jacy Guy. Veda is further survived by cousins, Adam Ligon (Julie Hedges, wife) and Edith Ludy (Jerry Ludy, husband, Julie Ludy, daughter), and sister-in-law, Vicki Fuller (Roger Fuller, husband).
She is preceded in death by Louis Antonio Fiffis, Mary Elizabeth Fiffis, George Louis Fiffis, First Husband, Lee E. Taylor, twin daughters, Lisa Louise and Leslie Elizabeth Taylor and daughter, Veda Pelham, Second Husband, Walter Johnson. Sister-in-law Debbie Sanford (Charles).
Veda was a long time and faithful member of Aldersgate UMC and raised her daughters in her footsteps. She was active in the walk to Emmaus.
She graduated from Huntingdon College with a degree in Mathematics. She worked over 30 years for Research and Statistics as a statistician and retired from the State of Alabama Industrial Relations after many years of service.
She loved to travel and visit the Florida gulf coast beaches. She was a wonderful artist and always looked for the good and beauty in everything and everyone.
Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she was so proud of them.
She was attended to with love by Southeast Hospice network in recent weeks.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Leak Memory at 10:00 A.M. and service immediately following at 11:00 A.M. in the Leak Memory Chapel. Graveside Services will follow Chapel Service. The service will be officiated by Reverend Brian Miller and Music Minister Steve Badsky."
