

WETUMPKA - Virginia Brophy Holmes, 82, of Wetumpka, Alabama passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was a proud graduate of Robert E. Lee High School class of 1958 where she was a cheerleader and later inducted into the Robert E. Lee Hall of Fame. Virginia was a devoted member of Frazer Church for 37 years and went on to being a staff member in the singles ministry. Even in retirement she continued her ministry by sending cards and praying for others.
Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Bill Holmes; her children Kaye Tyler ( Mark ); Jimmy Varner (Cathy), Susan Willard (Kenny), Becky Garrigan (Mike), Beth Ann Young (Keith), cousin Susan Moore (Norm); grandchildren Anna Goldman (Bryan), Laura Patterson (Matt), David Tyler, Colleen Lovingood (Trammell), William Ray, Sara Jane Garrigan, Stephanie Willard, Brittney Ziemba, Garret Guthrie (Alexis) and her 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father Herman "Cotton" Brophy.
She will always be remembered as a caring southern lady who loved her family, friends and her Love for the Lord. She had a special love for people. She'd always say she wasn't nosey; she was interested in people. She'll always be known as "Mrs. Holmes" by her loving grandson, David.
Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Sunday, November 27, 2022 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Frazer Church on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
