Walter Dorise Johnson

Walter D. Johnson, age 83, of Montgomery, AL, went to be with his Lord suddenly on Sunday, December 7, 2014. Walter loved the Lord and was a devoted husband, father and brother. Walter is survived by his wife, Veda Taylor Johnson, Montgomery, AL; sons, Donald Johnson (Tristie), Seattle, WA, Stanley Johnson, Las Cruces, NM, Keith Johnson (Anita), Tipp City, OH, Michael Johnson, Portland, OR; daughters, Melanie May, Montgomery, AL, Stefanie Strickland (Steve), Niceville, FL, Veda Taylor-Pelham, Montgomery, AL, Tisha Brookshire, Titus, AL; sister, Linda Joyce Steward, (Terry), Lander, WY; grandchildren, David Johnson, Victoria Vasquez, Brett Brookshire, Caroline Strickland, Colton Brookshire; and, great-grandchildren, Elijah Johnson and Andrew Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Erma Johnson. Walter was a long-time member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years of service. He was a member of VFW Post 96. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 5:30 until 7:00 at Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery, AL. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 2:30, with burial following in Greenwood Cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. Brian Miller and Rev. Steve Badskey. Pallbearers will be John Cates, Tim Cooper, Danny Massey, George Mingledorff, Wayne Pelham, and Jim Snyder.
