I know Wesley is missed in his family’s everyday life and my sincere condolences to them.  In 1972 Wesley introduced himself to me as I arrived in Rome Ga for a new position with IBM.  Wesley was a good friend and colleague.  Morning coffee at Shoneys with Wesley was the start of most days as we shared funny events of the previous day.  1972-1978 were wonderful years working with Wesley.  He will not be forgotten.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Wesley.   I was thinking of him tonight and did a search for him  in Rome.  Just learned of his passing.  I always loved meeting for coffee and talking about our day at IBM and our daily lives. Wesley took me under his wing when Elaine and I came to Rome in 1972.   
Elaine and I always got a laugh thinking of Edith calling Brussels sprouts "little heads". 
Elaine died suddenly in 2015 and I still miss her every day.  My Kids Jimmy and Laura Beth have their families and live next door on the "Luttrell compound"  and check on me regularly when they can find me.  😂😂
I hope you are doing ok, as I know it is a difficult time in your life.

Evelyn, I am so sorry to hear of Wes’s passing. Even though we wouldn’t  be considered close friends, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you both through your attendance at my estate sales. It was always a pleasure to see you both and as I write this, i cannot help but chuckle as I remember what a good “haggler” Wes was. He loved a bargain but was always gracious when he didn't come out on top. He will be sorely missed. My prayers are with you and your family.  

Dear Evelyn and family,

How sorry Faye and I were to hear of Eugene's death.  We pray that through God's everlasting love for you all,  that you will sense the gift of His peace and comfort as you navigate difficult days ahead.  As you move through the grieving and healing process over the next several days, weeks and months ahead I encourage you to lean completely on the God that Eugene called Father and Saviour.

WE met Evelyn and Eugene after moving to Twickenham Estates there in Rome, Ga. in 1973.  Evelyn worked at Springwood Nursing Home as the Activities Director where I was the Administrator.  It was through this association that we got to know Eugene and thus a lifelong friendship with this special couple began.  I have fond memories of playing basketball with Eugene in his church league.....we didn't win a lot of games,  cookouts with our two families, most of the time at their house.  The best steaks I have ever had in my life were cooked by Eugene  on his grill outside their home there in our neighborhood.

Though time and distance may separate us here in this old world, there is coming a day soon when families and friends will be reunited for eternity.  We are looking forward to that glorious day with great anticipation Eugene.  See you then,  Alton and Faye.


I have been very fortunate to have known “Uncle Eugene” for 51 years. He was a great friend and always a pleasure to be with. Evelyn, I know you and the family will miss him dearly, but just knowing he is not suffering from the terrible daily pain anymore and is in paradise with our Heavenly Father helps  the sadness of missing him. Plus, there is no doubt he was so happy to see Edna & Price again. I will be thinking of you and need anything please call me. I love you. 

I first met Wesley and Evelyn as new vendors at Amy’s Antiques almost 10 years ago. Wesley was the lovable curmudgeon arguing with Amy about booth boundaries and anything else he found to complain about! I got to know him and really grew to love and appreciate his humble generosity of spirit. Behind the gruffness, that old softy could be quickly calmed by Evelyn’s “Now Daddy” sweet rebuke or with a joke from those of us at the store poking fun at his latest overreaction. He will always be a treasured part of the Amy’s family and by Andy and me personally. We love you Wesley: I’ve got a bag of Hickory Farms meltaways I’ll trade you for a Jalapeño’s guacamole salad when we meet again! And I’m still working on getting your paperwork completed! Jen
