William “Billy” Jerry Ivey Sr., age 85, passed away peacefully April 5, 2019. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Foye Ivey, his wife of 61 years, Adrienne K. Ivey and son, Paul Ivey. He is survived by his sons, Jerry Ivey (Billie) and Scott Ivey; daughters Leigh Blackwell (Jimmy) and Marie Frankum (Jimbo); and brother, Tommy Ivey (Beth) and sister, Jean Wyatt; grandchildren, Ian Ivey (Laura), Aubrey Blackwell (Brandi), Mehgan Lazenby (Matthew), Christopher Ivey (Kasey), Ashley Ivey, Katlin Frankum, Stacy Blackwell, Christian Ivey and Knowlton Ivey; great grandchildren, Will Blackwell, Bryson Lazenby, Kayla Blackwell, Rhett Lazenby, Adaleigh Lazenby, Izzy Ivey, Leyton Ivey and a host of cousins and nieces. Billy served in the Korean War in the Navy. He was stationed at Guam AFB, where he was a boxer for the Guam Unit and won several titles in both the Lightweight and Featherweight Divisions. He owned Ivey Heating and Air Conditioning and later retired from the City of Montgomery. In his recent years, you would find him at the Madison Avenue Farmers Curb Market selling pickles, fresh eggs, and anything "homemade". Phillipians 1:21 "For me to Live is Christ, to die is gain."
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Leak Memory Chapel at 10:00am, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 am in the Chapel. Burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill’s Grandsons and Sons-In-Law.
