

Willie Mae Hunter Horne passed away on February 24, 2024, at home in Montgomery, Alabama, at the age of 95. She was born on August 14, 1928, in Yellow Pine, Louisiana. Willie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Willie is survived by her sister Lena Belle (Lyn) Hunter Conrad, son Gary Lane Horne (Judi), daughter Tammy Horne Trussell (Trey), grandsons Cody Jackson Trussell (Aimee) and Hunter Christian Horne (Kirstie), great grandchildren Grady Jackson Trussell, Caleigh Elizabeth Trussell and Paxton Andrew Trussell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jackson Horne, daughter Donna Lynn Horne, father, William LaFate (Fate) Hunter, her mother, Lillie Mae Gamble Hunter, her sisters Virginia Armineal Hunter and Stella Inthy Hunter, and her brothers Warren Harding Hunter and Henry Fedrick Hunter.
Willie had a career with the telephone company before dedicating herself to being a devoted wife, homemaker and mother after marrying her beloved husband, Don. Don served in the Air Force for 21 1/2 years, and Willie always proudly mentioned that she served alongside him.
She enjoyed worshipping at Ray Thorington Baptist Church and Eastdale Baptist Church and found great joy in her faith. Willie was an avid bowler, enjoyed crocheting, cooking delicious meals for her loved ones, and cherished spending time with family and friends.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Willie's life will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, located at 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Michael Trull officiating. Visitation will be at Leak Memory on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Leak Memory Funeral Home in Montgomery, Alabama, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
Willie will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her memory and the love she shared will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
