

Winifred "Winnie" Mitchell passed peacefully at her home, Tuesday, February 28, 2017. She was born to Tarlton Seymour and Mattie Seymour in Dothan AL on August 17, 1923. She attended Dothan High School and Jones Law School.
Shortly after she moved to Baltimore to work at Social Security Headquarters, she met and married the love of her life, Warren Mitchell. They later settled in Montgomery where Winnie became an active member of the Montgomery County Republican Party and was a Past President of the Women's Republican Club. The family are members of First United Methodist Church in Montgomery, AL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Terry Seymour, son-in-law Michael Payne, and sister-in-law Carolyn Seymour.
Winnie is survived by her beloved husband Warren Mitchell, her cherished daughter Terri Mitchell Payne, her brother Wallace Seymour, her sister Betty Perdue and many nieces and nephews. A public visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 5-7pm in the chapel of White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home. A private burial will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Alabama National Cemetery.
