We announce with great sadness that Amy Yuriko Miyamoto (née Horisaki), passed away peacefully at Résidence Fulford in Montréal on December 26, 2019, at the age of 96. In a long and full life she was the loving wife for 41 years of Toshi Miyamoto, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a capable and diligent worker in several clerical positions and a lover of bowling, bridge and the Montréal Expos.
She will be deeply missed by her loving children Carol (John), Ronnie (Barbara), Neil (Vilija), Wesley (Ellen) and Ian (Alexa) and grandchildren Kristy, Alby, Brigitta, Heather, Megan, Laura, Connor, David, Kelly and Sarah; she was also the great-grandmother of Parker, Bradley and Rylee. Her brother Kenji, her sister Grace and her nephews and nieces Grant, Sherri and Rob also mourn her passing. We will all miss her vivacity, forthrightness and strength.
A commemoration and celebration of her life, with a reception to follow, will be held at 3:00 PM (family members will be available to receive condolences from 2:30 PM) on Saturday, January 4th, 2020 at Kensington Presbyterian Church, 6225 ave. Godfrey (N.D.G.), Montréal. Donations may be given to Résidence Fulford, the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Japanese-Canadian Cultural Centre of Montréal.
