With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Bill Kui Cheong Kung who departed peacefully on April 18th, 2026. Bill, beloved husband, father and grandfather, will be remembered for his devotion to his family and generosity to his friends.
Born in 1934, Bill was the first in his family to immigrate to Canada. Arriving in 1960 at the young age of 25, he lived the Canadian dream. He married, started a family, and worked hard in the restaurant business to provide for a good life for them. He emphasized hard work and made sure all his children got a good education. Nevertheless, he always made time for family vacations with many memorable road trips. He was instrumental in bringing other relatives to Canada, helping them settle, and building up a large family network. His generosity extended beyond his family, as he also built up a devoted community of friends with his kindness and caring ways. The family were initially worried about what this hard-working man would do upon retirement. To their relief and surprise, he quickly discovered a passion and major talent for ballroom and line dancing, resulting in even more bonds formed within the community.
Bill will be particularly remembered for his bright, warm smile—dazzling on the dance floor and radiant whenever he was with his grandchildren or sharing stories about them.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting dedicated donations to Mount Sinai Hospital https://mountsinaifoundation.org or Nova Home Care https://www.novasoinsadomicile.ca/fr/contribution
