With heavy hearts, we share that our beloved mother, grandmother and wife, Lai Fong (Chan) Lee, age 84, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025 in Montreal, with her family at her side until her remaining days.
Born in Guangzhou, China, on February 8, 1941, Lai Fong Chan married her husband, Yim Lim Lee, in 1962. Soon after, the couple immigrated to Canada, where they built a life together and raised four children. In the classic story of Chinese immigrants, Lai Fong and her husband worked hard for many years, sacrificing all that they could to give their children the chance to aspire to their greatest potential.
We will remember our mother as a loving and caring protector - strong-willed yet gentle, at the same time. Beyond her family role, Lai Fong embraced life with laughter, humour and fun with friends and relatives, with some of her best moments in travel. Whether near or far, she approached every voyage with the same level of excitement and delight. Our cherished memories of our mother will resonate forever in these ways.
Lai Fong is survived by her husband of 63 years, Yim Lim; her children, Douglas Wing Hong (Marie Conforti), Thomas Wai Hong (Mei Xia Wu), Wendy Man Mei May, and Judy Man Ping; and grandson, Cody Brandon.
To our family and friends, please join us in celebrating her life and memory.
