Gerald Cooper

Gerry was born on Nov. 5,1929 to Fanny and Morris Cooper at the Royal Victoria Hospital. He grew up in Outremont, where he attended Strathcona Academy. He studied at Queens and McGill universities, graduating in Law in1955. Gerry established Bierbrier & Cooper Notaries in Westmount, QC with life-long colleague Solomon Bierbrier.

He was married to Madeleine Heinze from 1962 to 1985. The couple had two children, Roman and Tania. Gerry went on to become the loving and cherished partner of Frances Barry until his death, a treasured relationship that spanned nearly three decades.

He was an avid reader, political enthusiast, diehard Montreal Expos fan and stalwart member of the Mount Royal Tennis Club since the early 1970s.

Gerry is survived by his partner Frances, children Roman Cooper (Marta Farsang), Tania Cooper (Ahsan Rahman), stepson Sean McIntyre (Natsuko Inaba), four granddaughters: Nora, Mia, Satya, Leni, stepgrandson Maxwell, sister Adeline Slapcoff (Bill Ornstein), brother-in-law Al Colton, nephews Howard and Ricky Slapcoff, and niece Janie Colton.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fanny and Morris Cooper, sister Mamie Colton, nephew Bobby Colton, brother-in-law Ziggy Slapcoff.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 30 between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White, located at 5610, Sherbrooke St. W., Montréal, Québec, H4A 1W5. There is parking available on Marcil, Ave.
