

Maria Luisa (Luz) Landas Hernandez was born on August 25, 1934. She was the second child of Hermenegildo (Gildo) Aguila Hernandez, Sr. of San Jose, Batangas and Salud (Inching) Gomez Landas of Bacoor, Cavite. She is survived by her loving older brother Leonardo (Narding), her younger sister Zenaida (Enie), her cousin Emilie, in-laws, nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her younger brother Hermenegildo, Jr. (Oddie).
Luz grew up in Bacoor and spent many summers in San Jose in Batangas. She completed her elementary in Bacoor, her high school in Manila and her college education at the Chinese General Hospital in Manila. She was a registered nurse.
She lived and worked in Washington, DC and New York City, USA and in Toronto and Montreal in Canada. She has visited many, many countries around the world and vacationed in Bacoor in the month of May every single year while her mother was alive. She kept very close relationships with all her siblings, cousins and nieces and nephews despite the distance.
Her last days were spent with her nieces Eloisa, Kristine, Vida, Lyra, Hilda, her nephew Eric, her sister-in-law Lucy, and close friends. She died peacefully at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal at 1:05 pm eastern time on the 8th day of November, 2012.
Her final resting place is inside the Remembering Chapel of St. Therese Columbarium in Pasay City next to the mortal remains of her beloved mother and father.
She will forever be remembered for her deep religiosity, extraordinary dedication to family, genuine compassion, boundless generosity, strength of character and unquestionable integrity.
