Mary Marak (nee Zadorozny) of Montreal passed away peacefully at the age of 100 on Wednesday November 30th at Sunrise of Beaconsfield Assisted Living Facility.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Michael and Johanna, her brother Walter, sister Jean, daughter-in-law Renee and her husband Anthony.
She is survived by her children Michael and Susan (Myles), grandchildren Jessica (Ian), Michael (Alisha), Kayla (Chris) and Margaret as well as 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mary was born in Ukraine, and immigrated with her family to Canada at the age of 2. Mary spent her childhood in the small town of Schumacher, Ontario, then at age 17 moved to Montreal where she married and lived until her death.
Mary loved to play bingo, play slots at the casino and make beautiful quilts. Mary never had an unkind word to say about anyone and took any challenge that life handed her with dignity and poise. She was independent and determined, and astonishingly lived on her own until May of this year.
Mary was able to celebrate her 100th birthday with friends and family, and was thrilled to have her loved ones with her to mark the occasion.
Viewing will be held at Centre funeraire Cote-Des-Neiges, 4525 Ch. de la Côte-des-Neiges, Montréal, on Monday, December 12 at 11:00 o’clock, with a service beginning at 1:00 o’clock and burial following.
