It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Natalie Berezoski on April 17, 2025 at the age of 83.
Natalie is now reunited with her beloved Maurice (Mack).
Born in Val d’Or, Quebec, on June 29, 1941. She was the only child of Julian and Josepha Berezoski, both immigrants from Ukraine.
The family lived in Val d’Or for many years but later moved to Montreal in 1953, where Natalie attended Rosemount High.
Natalie had a talent for making and preserving friendships, some friendships dating over 70 years.
A typical Friday night with the gals back in the day would be as such: Drinks at the 4 Seasons Hotel, followed by dinner in a popular restaurant. Occasional weekends were spent at Grey Rocks Resort, or Montebello for sports and leisure.
Place des Arts and the theatre were also favourite haunts of Natalie.
An avid reader, Natalie could easily discuss any topic, and it was always a pleasure to engage in conversation with her.
Travel was a huge passion. Europe and South America were just some of the destinations she vacationed with girlfriends.
She and Maurice also travelled immensely, visiting such places like China, Iceland, New Zealand and Africa. A fun time was also spent at Disneyworld.
Natalie and Maurice met in June of 1985 at her god-daughter’s wedding. After a whirlwind romance they were married in November of the same year.
Maurice and Natalie entertained family and friends at their country home on Lake MacDonald.
Gardening was a shared hobby, and both homes boasted beautiful gardens.
Natalie took up golf later in life and she became a fixture at the Beaconsfield Golf Club where she was a member. This became her “Happy Place”. Additional friendships were formed with new friends that she fondly called “ The Golf Ladies”.
For two years Natalie stoically battled Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She faced each day with a positivity that impressed her dedicated team at The Jewish General Hospital. The family wishes to thank Dr. Chantal Cassis and everyone involved at the JGH for the care Natalie received.
Natalie passed away peacefully on April 17, surrounded by some of her oldest and dearest friends.
She leaves to mourn brothers and sisters-in law, devoted nieces and nephews, their children, her cousins in Ukraine and the States, as well as many old and new friends.
She will best be remembered for her positive and generous nature, and always making the best of every day she had left to her, with gratitude and grace. Les Canadiens de Montreal are losing one of their biggest fans.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Centre Funeraire Cote-des- Neiges, 4525 Cote-des-Neiges. There is underground parking provided. Viewing begins from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m followed by a funeral service, burial and reception.
In place of flowers, please consider making a donation either to Canada-Ukraine Foundation (wwwcufoundation.ca) or a charity of your choice.
