Although Stefan had already been in contact with HOCHBAHN concerning our Trapeze-AVL for Bus, I got into contact with him when he started working for GIRO. Since then we had a very friendly, trustful and reliable business relationship concerning many different topics which I really appreciated.

It really touched me when I got the sad news. My special thoughts are with Nurhan, his family and friends. With all of my heart I wish you all the power you need to cope with Stefan’s passing away.

I will always keep Stefan in a good memory!  May he rest in peace.

Many years ago I got to know Stefan as a superior in Switzerland. Despite his challenging goals, he never lost sight of humans. He always had an air of lightness, sportiness and friendliness. He was not only a respected superior, but also a colleague and friend.
Although we have not seen each other for many years, he often returned to my thoughts. His death is a loss for all who knew him. To know, we will not meet him again fulfills us with sadness.
We will keep him in the best memory.

It was my privilege to know Stefan as my ESL student, my badminton opponent, my host in Schaffhausen, and my friend.  I will miss him.

There is no word to explain our deeply sadness after my brother.
He was a very gentleman.  it was very pleasure to share something in our life. He was a great personality with his energy and humour. 
You will be there always in our hearts with the best memories .

I first met Stefan in Switzerland almost 25 years ago. I always enjoyed to work with him; for a long time in the same department and later I had the pleasure to work in joint projects. His clear way of working but also his humour have often impressed me.
We have lost sight of each other since a long time. He moved to Canada with his Nurhan. I have always regretted that.

Today this sad news reached me. A big loss, especially for those who were allowed to experience him so close in the last years. 

As I remember Stefan, he wants life to go on. - I believe he is perfectly fine now.

I express my sincere condolences to Nurhan and the whole bereaved family. 
I wish you much strength and power in this difficult time.

My sincere condolences to Stefan's family and friends. Although we worked together only briefly, Stefan was a gentleman, and I am glad to have had the opportunity to cross his path. 

I met Stefan around 5 years ago at the Montreal Rowing Club. We became doubles teammates and practiced regularly and did competitions together including the very famous race in Boston, Head of the Charles. Rowers share quiet moments of reflection on the water when we pause to take a break before starting up again. During these moments Stefan and I shared many thoughts, feelings and ideas... but most importantly we often shared our thankfulness for all the most wonderful things in life such as friends, family, health, new adventures and discoveries, and even the beauty of being on the water on a fine summer day. I will always remember Stefan like that... happy, healthy, and carefree. I will miss you buddy. I still can't believe you are gone.

   C'est avec une grande tristesse que j'ai appris le décès de Stefan. 
À toi Nurhan ainsi qu'aux proches de Stefan,  j'offre mes plus sincères condoléances. 
J'ai eu le plaisir de collaborer au travail et aussi de voyager quelques fois avec Stefan.  J'en conserve de bons souvenirs d'un compagnon aimable et travailleur.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel baout Stefan's death. 

We met six years ago while working on the Montreal project. Working with him was gratifying and inspiring, he earned the respect of us all for the excellent work he did. His friendly manner, expertise and fairness made a deep impression on all those who were fortunate to work with him. We all have many positive memories of him.

Stefan dégageait une passion de vivre contagieuse, un humour et un sourire qui m’ont marqué dès que je le rencontrai il y a 10 ans à Zurich comme futur lointain collègue. Quelques années plus tard je lui suggérai de « traverser la mare » et il fut si heureux de de s’installer, avec Nurhan, à Montréal pour une nouvelle page de vie.
Stefan, nous ne nous étions pas croisés depuis longtemps…: pourtant ta disparition m’a ébranlé, et tu resteras ancré dans mon souvenir.

Il n'y a pas de mots pour décrire notre douleur et le sentiment d'injustice qui nous envahit aujourd'hui après des mois de combat et de souffrance.
La vie a décidé de nous séparer et les très bons moments passés ensemble sont à jamais inoubliables.

It's hard to say goodbye to someone I've known for a short time.  I recognized Stefan as a very elegant and calm man. I wish him the same serenity, peace and love where he went.

Bien que j’ai rencontré Stefan dès son arrivée chez GIRO, ce n’est que plus tard que j’ai eu l’occasion de mieux le connaitre lorsqu’il a joint le groupe de développement des affaires.   J’ai alors rencontré une personne déterminée et rigoureuse dans sa démarche professionnelle qui savait laisser le sérieux des affaires pour exulter la joie de vivre lorsqu’on profitait de temps libre pour faire des activités ensemble.  

Sa maladie a été un moment difficile ou j’ai pu apprécier l’immense amour qu’il partageait avec Nurhan.  Mes pensées les accompagnent tous les deux dans ce moment difficile.  


Stefan and I met 4 years ago. We worked in the same project team with diffrent companies.
We understood each other very good from the beginning. After he left the project we stayed in touch and became friends.
Everytime I came to Montreal, we tried to arrange to get together.

So visiting Montreal will always be linked for me with visiting a good friend: Stefan. We shared the same interests: photography, travel and running.
I will remember Stefan as an honest and always friendly man. His humour and happy attitude will stay in my mind.

A couple of times we reached the top of Montroyal together: looking from the Chalet now - I see you Stefan.

With Stefan we lose a trusted friend, dear colleague and fine person.
I have always valued, and will never forget, how he helped me during my first months as his new colleague in Switzerland. He assisted me wherever possible and took a real interest in me as a person.
Years later, when we met again  in Montreal after his move to Canada he reserved a whole night to catch up over dinner and a drink, speaking about his passions, Nurhan and again taking a keen interest in what I was doing both in private life and professionally.
I wish you all the strength you need to cope with the tragic loss of Stefan.

Stefan  shared the beauty of Santis and the SeeAlpSee during my first visits to Switserland. He mentioned how he took his dog for a walk around those beautiful mountains and lakes. This summer I took my family there and it was our favorite place of any vacation.

Stefan was a driven colleague who knew what he was talking about. We had good times together in Cedar Rapids, Schaffhausen and Montreal. 

I will take along his appreciation for the outdoors and gliding in a skiff over the water.

I will miss you Stefan!

J’ai été un de ceux qui ont accueilli Stefan à son arrivée chez GIRO. Ses trop brèves années de travail nous ont montré la valeur de cet homme déterminé, honnête et rigoureux, ainsi que pince-sans-rire à ses heures.  Toute l’équipe de GIRO se joint à moi pour souligner les qualités de ce compagnon de travail apprécié.

Plus personnellement, Danielle et moi avons été profondément touchés par la passion et  la sincérité de l’amour entre Nurhan et Stefan.  Nos tendres pensées les accompagnent.



I was greatly saddened to learn the passing of Stefan. I send his wife Nurhan, family and friends my most sincere condolences. I will not forget Stefan and the good moments we had together. He was an amazing person. I am greatful to have had the privilege of knowing him.

Dear Stefan, I will always remember your humor, your support and your spirit. It was a great honor for me that our paths crossed and that we were able to achieve something together.
