

Anna Mary Niwinski (nee Malles) of Pequannock, NJ formerly of Buchanan, NY passed away on March 4, 2016 at the age of 89. Anna was born to Harry and Anna (Orendach) Malles on May 1, 1926 in Buchanan, NY. Anna graduated from St. Joseph’s School for the Deaf in the Bronx, NY. After graduation, she was employed by the Graymoor Press in Peekskill, NY. She married Edward T. Niwinski in 1953 and lived in Illinois and New York, before settling in New Jersey to raise their family. She was a member of the Catholic Deaf Society Diocese of Paterson, NJ. Anna was predeceased by her loving husband Edward in 1993 and by siblings John Malles, Harry Malles and Georgia Frye. Anna is survived by her beloved children Dora Koehler, Susan Niwinski and Michael Niwinski (Nancy), cherished grandchildren Dawn Koehler and Brian Koehler (Sharon), 4 adored great grandchildren, siblings Mary Knickerbocker, Margaret Kiley, George Malles and Theresa Vafiadis and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A loving person and special Mother who will forever be in our hearts and prayers.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 4-8PM at the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 10th, 10 AM at Church of the Holy Spirit, Peekskill, NY with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor, NY.
