

Harry Jacobus VanTil, a lifelong resident of Montrose, NY, passed away on March 9, 2026 at the age of 96. Harry was born to Hendrick and Johanna (Boree) VanTil on December 4, 1929. Before his retirement, Harry worked at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, and for many years as a plumber for Donald Shubert Plumbing & Heating in Montrose, NY. Harry served his community as a dedicated member of the Montrose Fire Department/ Cortlandt Engine Company for 78 years. He loved going to the Catskills to hunt and spending weekends with family there, where he was a member of the Sun Up Rod and Gun Club for over 50 years. He also enjoyed his garden along with collecting his cans and bottles.
He is survived by three children Joann (Tommy) Zeoli, Keith VanTil and his fiancé Tina Calcutti, Kevin (Joanna) VanTil and son-in-law Wayne Lape. His eight grandchildren Shannon (Rob) Ferguson, Justin (Lesley) Polomcean, Alexis Agosta, Ashley Lape and her partner (Dave), Bryan Zeoli and his partner (Desiree), Michael (Kim) Zeoli, Christopher and Madison VanTil, along with two step grandchildren Skylar Furey and Savannah Daugherty, his great grandchildren Saharrah, Mera, Freya, Brayden and Jacob, along with many nieces and nephews.
Harry is predeceased by his loving wife Delia of 57 years, his two daughters Sharon Lape and Melanie VanTil Agosta, along with his two sisters Connie Sabol and Joan VanDyke.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 12th from 2-4pm & 6-9pm at Edward F Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY 10548. A funeral service is scheduled at the funeral home for Friday, March 13th at 10:30am. Interment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 100 Mill Rd., Putnam Valley, NY 10579.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his honor to Cortlandt Engine Company 2143 Albany Post Road, Montrose, NY 10548.
