Heloise O’Neill passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026. Born May 21, 1931 in Manhattan, Heloise “Lulu” is survived by her children Denise O’Neill, John O’Neill, Elizabeth O’Neill, Margaret Wheeler (husband Wayne); Grandchildren Olivia Paccione, Fitz Paccione (wife Nikki); Great-Grandson Luca Paccione; Beloved Nephew Eddie Allen (wife Sonja); Great-Nephew Matty Allen (wife Lea, children Haley and Carina); Great-Niece Jaime Bunker (husband Mark, children Millie, Ethan and Anaya); Niece Helen Allen; and Great-Nephews Michael and Eric Muniz.
Lulu grew up in the Bronx where she met her lifelong friends. After WWII, Lulu and her best friend Rosie volunteered with a local organization to help teen survivors of the Holocaust. As a teenager, this experience greatly impacted her. She graduated from Jane Addams High School of Academic Careers in the Bronx and started work as a seamstress in Manhattan’s infamous garment district. Lulu also worked at the Federal Reserve Bank on Wall Street.
Lulu met her match Juan O’Neill at a party. It was love at first sight. They married July 11, 1953. For 68 years their love and devotion to each other was inspiration to all that had the privilege of knowing them.
As a talented seamstress, Lulu designed and handmade all her children’s clothing and then elaborate costumes for her grandchildren. She started a family tradition with her baptism gown and communion dress worn and treasured by multiple generations of her family.
Lulu was methodical, patient and steadfast, just like her favorite animal the turtle. With their unconditional generosity and kindness Lulu and Juan loved hosting family gatherings and their house was home to everyone.
Lulu and Juan are once again dancing together. She will greatly missed.
