Marie Madeline Cronk

Marie Madeline Cronk long time resident of Verplanck died today after a long illness. Marie was born in Bronx, NY on November 20, 1931. She is the daughter of Mary Wagner and John Koehler. Marie moved to Peekskill, NY around 1943 where she met her husband of 69 years James J. Cronk, Sr.

Marie worked for the Grand Union Company but is best known for her years as a waitress at the Paradise Restaurant, in Verplanck. Marie has been a long time member of the Verplanck Fire Protective Association Ladies Auxiliary and is a past President of the Verplanck Seniors. Marie loved to garden, she loved doing all kinds of crafts but her greatest joy was her family. She will be missed dearly.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother John Koehler and her two step brothers; Robert Marro and Laurence (Skippy) Marro.

Marie is survived by her husband James, her two sons; James Cronk, Jr. (Cassandra) of Wallkill, NY; John S. Cronk (Nancy) of Oakland Florida and her daughter Sharon Morrison (Alan) of Verplanck. Her step sister Mary Joann Koehler (Boca Raton, Florida) and her step brother Laurence Koehler of New Smyrna, Delaware.

She has six grandchildren: Kristin Cronk, Bonnie Cronk, Jacob Morrison, Donald Cronk, Jonathan Daniel Cronk and Miranda Morrison Vazquez and eight great grandchildren; Tyara Torres-Cronk, Brynja Cronk, Ric Vazquez, Aaronson Cronk, Eli Vazquez, Peter Morrison, Chloe Cronk, and Rebecca Grace Morrison.

Visitation will be celebrated on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 10-12pm at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY. A Funeral Service will be celebrated also on Thursday, 12pm following the visitation. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Montrose, NY.
