Mary Sozzi

Mary Ann Sozzi passed away on December 6, 2022 at the age of 86. Mary Ann Sozzi (lovingly called Mary) was born in the Peekskill, NY on May 24th, 1936 to Mary Ann and Rudolph Langer. She was the middle of three, her late older brother Rudy and younger sister Patricia.

Mary was the mother of five boys and a devoted wife to her late husband Charles Sozzi. She was a long time employee of Reader’s Digest and traveled across the country holding trainings for employees. She was passionate about her Irish heritage and enjoyed Irish music, dancing, and food. She loved to travel and visited all fifty states, as well as many international destinations.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Mary Ann and Rudolph Langer, brother Rudy Langer and husband Charles Sozzi.

She is survived by her sons Vincent Furfaro (Joanne), David Furfaro (Dawn), Thomas Furfaro, Gary Furfaro, and Christopher Furfaro as well as stepson James Sozzi (Jeanine) and stepdaughters Janet Morris (Chuck) and Carol Keif. Grandma Sozzi, as she was so lovingly called by her grandchildren, leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mary was a proud and spirited woman with a quick-wit and a big heart. She loved to hold court and was affectionately called ‘Queenie’ by her late husband Charles. She loved experiencing new places and cultures and often generously brought her children and grandchildren along with her on international adventures. She touched the lives of her family and friends and will be forever missed.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday, December 9th from 2PM - 4PM and 6PM - 8PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, located at 170 King's Ferry Road, Montrose, NY 10548. Family and friends are invited to attend Mass at Saint Christopher's Church in Buchanan on Saturday, December 10th at 10AM and burial at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Verplank which will follow.
