Derek Lamont Magee Sr.

Derek Lamont Magee SR. was born on July 7, 1970 in Los Angeles, CA to Ida Byrd and William "Bill" Thompson. Derek attended Susan "Dorsey" Miller High School where he excelled in basketball. Derek had continuous employment as an equipment operator with K&N Engineering, Harbor Freight and Ralph's Grocery Company.

Derek was affectionally known as "Dink" to his family, "Lil Meron" to his homies and "Big D" to his co-workers, friends and neighbors. Derek was a caring and loving man to everyone he crossed paths with and loved his family dearly. Derek was baptized along with his family at MT. Rubidoux Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1998.

Derek had two children from previous relationships Joyvonna Jack and Brandon Magee. In 1992, Derek met his wife Delia Magee in Inglewood, CA. Together they shared eight children; Ashley, Jarell, Darell, Daneisha, Julius, Derek Jr., Tyree, Unique and 30 grandchildren with two on the way. He was an excellent husband, provider, father and papa to his grandkids.

Everyone that knew Derek knew he was a die hard 49er's fan and loved to cook and barbeque. Derek enjoyed spending time with his family and friends fishing, camping, golfing and watching his sports, movies and tv shows. Everyone was just a phone call away to Derek and when he called you, you talked to him for hours.

Derek was proceeded in death by his father, William "Bill" Thompson; his son, Darell; two half brothers Scottie and Steve; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, brother in law, sister in law and father in law. Left to cherish fond memories of him are his mother and step father; Ida and Charles Byrd SR. His wife Delia Magee. His children; Joyvonna, Ashley, Brandon, Jarell, Danisha, Julius, Derek Jr., Tyree and Unique; 30 grandchildren; his siblings; Tony of Georgia, Courtney of California and Anita and valerie of South Carolina. Step father; Terry FullerStep siblings; Neal, Aneas, Lee, Athena, Tammantha and Echole. Step siblings; LaTasha Byrd, Natisha Rose, Aquesha Byrd and Charles Byrd Jr. Mother in law; Delia, sisters in law; Daph, Pamela, Adrienne and Marlo; brothers in law, Darren, Gary and Kenneth. Host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in laws, friends, family and co-workers."
