With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Erick Watkins on April 3, 2025, at the age of forty-eight. Erick was a loving father, a devoted son and brother, an adored uncle, and a cherished friend to many. Born on December 3, 1976, Erick brought warmth and light to the lives of those around him. He was the proud father of two children: Timothy and Rosalynn Watkins, both of whom he loved deeply.
Erick was preceded in death by his beloved brother Don Watkins and his father Frederick Watkins. He is survived by his mother, Thanh Van Watkins; his siblings William and LaVon Watkins, and his twin sister Latona Patten; as well as his children who carry forward his spiritual vibrance and legacy of kindness.
Erick was a respected mechanic. He had always been mechanically inclined and at an early age he invested long hard hours perfecting his talents. Eventually, as a master mechanic, he was in such high demand that he gained enough courage to own and operate his own thriving boat shop. Outside of work, anytime a loved one needed help with their vehicles and/or anything mechanical, Erick always lent a hand putting their needs ahead of his own.
Erick had a rare gift—he could connect with anyone. He had a way of understanding who you wanted to be, and he never judged. His presence put people at ease, and he had a heart that was always open to helping others. Even if he couldn’t solve your problem, he sure tried to make the journey better. Whether you knew him for years or just met him in passing, you likely walked away with a smile—and maybe a story to tell.
His absence is a tragedy that leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched with his unwavering charm, generosity, humor, and unconditional love.
We will celebrate Erick’s life on April 25th, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Moreno Valley, CA.
