He was born in Seneca, Kansas to Walter and Lucille (Wichman) Lierz. He spent his childhood in Steinauer, Nebraska helping his parents with their gas station business and earlier on the farm with his parents and siblings in Seneca, Kansas. He served his country with 3 years in the Army, 1 year in Korea and 2 years in Los Angeles, California where he fell in love with the SoCal weather. He earned his BA of Business Admin at the University of Nebraska, GO HUSKERS!!! He loved to watch many football teams but especially Nebraska Huskers, Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed many diverse news programs, detective & murder mystery shows and the Jeopardy TV game show; was an avid bridge card player, hand ball player & golfer in his youth and all through life enjoyed saying the rosary (it gave him great comfort) and going to mass when his health allowed. After his military and university days, he settled in Riverside, California and worked at the local Toro Co. for 35 years, (on the order desk and eventually as master scheduler) until his retirement on July 7, 2007 when his wife retired too.
