

Stanley Ray Edwards, age 90, passed away on December 18, 2024. He was born on December 11, 1934, in El Dorado, Illinois, to Joseph and Verna Edwards. Stan grew up in the Southern Illinois area. He enjoyed school, excelled at most subjects, and was an excellent athlete. Basketball was his sport, and he was a star on his high school team in Norris City. After high school graduation, Stan attended Southern Illinois University for two years and then joined the Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He later graduated from the University of Denver. He married Joan Miller and had three children in the Denver area before being transferred to California, where his fourth child was born. After retiring from Shell Oil Co., he moved to Banning, CA, and enjoyed his retirement at the Sun Lakes community.
Stan was a devoted father to his four children. Known for his sense of humor, stories, and jokes, he will be missed at family gatherings.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Joan and June. He is survived by his two daughters, Janet Edwards (Wayne) and Karen Sterling (Greg); two sons, Brent Edwards (Betty Ann) and Scott Edwards (Monica); granddaughters, Lauren, Amy, Rebecca, Carly, Kristi, Jenna, Anna, and Lilli; grandsons, Ryan, Dallin, Jonathan, Nolan, Bryce, and Jackson; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial will be held on Friday, January 3, at 11:00 a.m. at 13281 Lasselle, Moreno Valley, CA. Interment with military honors will be at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m.
Stan’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
