David May was born in Gibson, Louisiana on February 12, 1948, to Jefferson Davis “JD” May and Modenia May and was raised in a loving, faith-centered home alongside his siblings, Alice May and Henry “Jimmy” May. A devoted member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, David accepted Christ at an early age, laying a strong foundation for a lifetime of faith, service, and dedication to God’s Word.
David was educated in Houma, Louisiana and worked diligently throughout his life to support his family. He served faithfully with Western and Southern Insurance Company for 15 years until retirement and also operated a house washing business. Known for his integrity, kindness, and servant’s heart, David never met a stranger and found joy in helping others. He also had a passion for holistic health and natural healing, often sharing wisdom and encouragement.
David was united in holy matrimony to his beloved wife, Yvette Janice May, together they welcomed one son, Patrick Darnell May, and were blessed with three grandchildren—Kaylon, Darion, and Kirsten—who brought him great joy. Above all, David was committed to sharing the Gospel and living boldly for Christ as a faithful soldier in the Army of the Lord. He was deeply grateful for the Ganaway family, who embraced him with love and fellowship.
David entered eternal rest on November 9, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Yvette May; his brother, Henry “Jimmy” May; his nephew, Juan; his niece, Dijuana; his mother-in-law, Melvina (Willie) Williams; and his father-in-law, Joseph Young Sr.
