Brother Ron Johnson and I were not only fraternity brothers but best of friends. We traveled to many Kappa activities together.
Brother Johnson loved Kappa Alpha Psi and did many things to make Opelousas Alumni achieve its goals.

His memory will be an inspiration to us all.

My deepest condolences to the Johnson family. Shay and Juan, my heart and blessings are for your loss. 

Ronny was my cousin; I'm the Daughter of Jeaneira Robertson Petty, Ronny's first cousin, and the granddaughter of Ronny's material Aunt Jean, Jeaneira Humphrey, the sister of Ronny's mom, Aunt Ruth.

In the 1970s, during summer break, we often vacationed in Morgan City to visit Ronny and his family, and these are some of the best childhood memories of my life.  Being born and raised in Chicago, learning about our family's history in Louisiana still triggers excellent memories. And now that I'm a family historian, the experience has become invaluable, bringing me closer to my Louisiana roots.

In 1982, I was 18 years old, and I attended Southern University in Baton Rouge. I stayed with Ronny's Aunt Portia in Patterson, Louisiana. Ronny would occasionally transport me to New Orleans to join the rest of the family at Aunt Violet's house, and during those two-hour trips with Ronny, he would give me words of affirmation to live by that stuck with me to this day. For this, Ronny has always had a special place in my heart.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Johnson.   He was like family, a part of that circle of my Father’s best friends and fraternity brothers.    He was a towering presence with a great hug and huge laugh.   He will be missed

Ron was a great leader of men and clearly a mentor to us all.  He led by example.  I met him early in my life and when I worked for Marthon Oil he guided me as opportunities for increasing responsibility were presented.    His letter of recommendation was key to my acceptance into law school and I am sure for others.   

As I look to our Fraternity, he was a stalwart member of Kappa Alpha Psi and a confidential source to several key programs where Zinc, Inc.  paid the tuition for young boys to attend summer enrichment programs year after year.   His love for Kappa Kamp was without equal.     He will be sorely missed.
