

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Patterson Civic Center. Burial will follow in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sandra was baptized at the Good Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Lantry B. Bennett at an early age. She later placed her membership with the Zion Chapel AME Church where she attended for a while.
Sandra attended Patterson High School where she graduated in May 1976. She was an avid basketball player under Coach Diane Landry.
Sandra worked for Walmart Store # 540 in Bayou Vista, LA for over 30 years until she retired. Prior to Walmart she worked at ABC Uniform Company, which was located in the Place Norman Shopping Center, Patterson, LA.
Sandra was a strong staple in the Patterson community. She was well loved and appreciated by all she came in contact with. She sponsored many charitable functions in the community.
Whether it was an Easter celebration or a gathering of children for an Imani Mardi Gras Crew Ball which she was a faithful, longtime member, who dedicated her time and devotion, until her diagnosis of cancer. She was a passionate person who deeply loved her family and friends.
Sandra leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Amber L. Grogan; her longtime companion, Adell P. Burgess; her mother, Hattie Grogan Wilson; four sisters, Janet G. Taylor of Walls, Mississippi, Donnette G. (Darryl) Webber and Charlita R. Thomas, both of Patterson, Louisiana, and Derise C. (Dennis) Major of San Antonio, Texas; four brothers, Gene E. Grogan of Dallas, Texas, Ronald (Monique) Thomas of Gonzales, Louisiana, Reginald Thomas of Houston, Texas and Ivory K. (Vanessa) Wilson of Algiers, Louisiana; one uncle, Matthew Thomas, Sr.; one aunt, Katherine W. Thomas; her godmother, Edith Williams of Austin, Texas;along with a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and dedicated friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, James L. Grogan, Sr.; stepfather, Charles Wilson, maternal grandparents; Ivory Thomas Sr. and Kate H. Allen; paternal grandparents; James L. (Mary) Grogan; two brothers; James L. Grogan, Jr. and Donald Thomas; and her sister, Karen K. Wilson.
