

Born in Yuma, AZ, David and his family followed the crops and became long time residents of Gilroy.
Dave worked for 36 years for Granite Rock, first as a truck driver and later as the yard supervisor.
After his retirement seven years ago David was able to devote more time to playing golf, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Dave enjoyed being a volunteer chef at the Garlic Festival for many years and cooking alongside Dave Bozzo. He was a member of the Sportsman Chef and Gilroy Men’s Club.
David and his wife Laurie recently celebrated their 40th anniversary with friends. He also leaves behind sons Anthony and Steven, siblings Margaret Mesa (Joe), Anita Rios of Yuma, AZ, JR Madrid (Doris), Helen Madrid, Alice Vela (Mauro), Mary Perez, and Tony Perez (Mary Ellen) of Gilroy, Christy Zamora of Wisconsin, in laws Chris Simonsen (Karen), Eric Simonsen (Carol), Sean Simonsen (Michele) and Jean Alkire (Randy).
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad: Rita and Genaro (Shorty) Perez, brother William Munoz, parents-in-law Harry and Bonnie Simonsen and brother-in-law Wade Simonsen.
He will also be much missed by special God-daughters Veronica Rodriquez, Viktoria Weiler, and Geanette Diaz, many wonderful nieces and nephews and especially his grand-dog Sue.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday November 6 at Johnson Funeral Home with a family viewing at 10:00am and services at 11:00am.
