John Fletcher, born October 30, 1942 in Culver City, California, passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2012. John was raised in Arizona and New Mexico before returning to California to begin a career with the Pacific Gas and Electric Department. John retired in 2000 after 34 years with PG&E.
John was a proud alumni of the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico, having just celebrated his 50th Class Reunion. He attended San Jose State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Communication Studies.
A Vietnam War veteran, John served in the United States Army.
John was initiated into Morgan Hill Lodge #463 in 1979, serving as their Master in 1985. He had the honor of serving as a Grand Lodge Officer in both 2006 and 2010. At the time of his death, he was serving as Treasurer of his lodge and as a Trustee of the California Masonic Foundation and the California Masonic Memorial Temple. John was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, having served his local chapters in a variety of capacities and the Grand Chapter of California as Worthy Grand Patron in 2002. John was also a member of the Scottish Rite and York Rite Bodies in San Jose, Asiya Shrine, Royal Order of Scotland and the Ancient Egyptian Order of Sciots.
For many years John performed in local community theatre productions and enjoyed sharing his singing talents with family and friends. Upon his retirement, John took up golf with a vengeance. He loved the fresh air and exercise…from the golf cart!
John is survived by his adoring wife Karen, his parents Orville and Lois Fletcher, his sons Jeff and Greg, his sister Deb Fletcher, brother Bob Fletcher (Marguerite), his grandkids Markus and Hailie, and nieces and nephews. John’s spirit and ability to find humor in everything will be forever missed, but his memory will live forever…our “very favorite.”
