Raymond Joseph Gomes Sr.

Raymond J. Gomes Sr., 89, died September 23, 2012 at his home in Morgan Hill, California. He was born December 25, 1922 in Berryessa, California, the son of the late Frank and Mary Gomes. He was the youngest of 3 siblings. He served in the U.S. Army –Air Corp during World War II. After his discharge he returned to the family farm, growing fruits and nuts until 1970. He began his 2nd career with the Berryessa School District where he remained for 23 years until his retirement in 1997. Mr. Gomes was a member of the Los Californians. He is survived by his son and daughter in law Frank and Jeannie Gomes of Wilton, CA; daughter and son in law, Charlene and Anthony Dias of Bullhead City, AZ; son and daughter in law, Ray and Vera Gomes of Morgan Hill, CA; grandchildren, Frank Gomes Jr. of Ft. Carson, Colorado; Travis Gomes of Wilton, CA; Michael Dias of Bullhead City, AZ; Shannon Dias DeBraal (Kevin) of Bullhead City, AZ; Bryan Gomes of Morgan Hill, CA; great- granddaughters, Adrianna Dias and Kenadee DeBraal of Bullhead City, AZ. Mr. Gomes was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Bernal Gomes. A funeral service will take place on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 10am at Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey St., Morgan Hill, CA with interment to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in San Jose.
