

He was born on August 22, 1951, in Asheville, North Carolina. He grew up in Canton, North Carolina, and later made his home in Rockwell, North Carolina, where he spent many years surrounded by family.
Bryan proudly served his community as a law enforcement officer. He retired in 2006 from the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Department, where he served as a School Resource Officer. His dedication to protecting and guiding others, especially young people, was a defining part of his life and legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Janet Rogers and Jesse Palmer Howard; his sister, Pamela Howard Sorrells; and his beloved grandson, Jeremiah "Cane" Gentry.
He is survived by his wife, Mona Caskey Howard; his daughters, Tammy Howard Hightower, and Amy Howard; and his sons, Matthew Howard (fiancée Monica) and Christopher Howard (wife Christina). He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Jessica Creason, Peyton Hightower, and Harlow Howard.
Bryan will be remembered for his witty humor, being a devoted father, grandfather, and public servant. His commitment to family, service, and community will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
