Anita Louise Carroll Stanton

Anita Louise Carroll Stanton, age 79, of Morganton, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023. Anita was born the daughter of the late Clifford McDowell Carroll and Louise Virginia Strickler Carroll on January 8, 1944 in Staunton, Virginia.

Along with her parents, Anita is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Edward Stanton, Jr.

Those left behind to cherish Anita's memory include, Gilbert Jr., Chong, Clinton, Tammy, Candace, Ron, Emma, Buzzy, Junior, Emma, Dylan, Jackie, Shelly, Tiffany, Bubba, Amiyah, Ariel, Clinton 3rd, Gracie, Aria, Kinsley, Jocelyn, Braeden, Amanda, Cj, Charlotte and Thatcher.

Growing up, we all knew we could always come to Anita for help. When we couldn't, she saw the best in us. She was a rock of stability and a source of strength for our whole family and friends. She showed up for life in the biggest way possible. She never failed to fill our hearts with love, our bellies with home cooked meals, our heads with words of encouragement. A strong, willful, loving, caring and inspiring daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, all the while being all our best friend who we will cherish forever.

We know you're dancing with Gil in heaven now and we love you.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2023 in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with her son the Reverend Gilbert Stanton, III officiating.
