

Mrs. Annie Sue Ervin Max, 79, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Grace Hospital. Born March 14, 1931, in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late William Ervin and Lizzie Johnson Ervin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Max was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Max, Jr., a son, Michael Allen Ervin, three brothers, Will M. Ervin, John L. Ervin and Carl T. Ervin, and a sister, Katherine Davis. She was a faithful member of the Mission A.M.E. Church, Morganton, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Club. A loving mom and grandmother, Mrs. Max will be remembered as a caring and loving child care provider for numerous nieces, nephews and neighborhood children that affectionately called her “Nanny”.
Mrs. Max will lovingly be remembered by a son, Edward Max, III, of the home;
a daughter, Jane Max Johnson, of Morganton;
three brothers, Harry B. Ervin, Herman Ervin and William Ervin, Jr., all of Morganton;
five sisters, Sadie Max, Sophie Pearson, Margaret Pearson, Jeanette Norwood and Connie Caldwell, all of Morganton;
two grandchildren, Michael Alan Rice, of Morganton and Anna Muller & husband, Edward, of Cary;
two great grandchildren, Quentin Rice and Isaiah Muller;
several nieces, nephews and friends will also lovingly remember her.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Max will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at the Mission A.M.E. Church with the Reverend Jasper Hemphill presiding. Interment will follow at the Mission A.M.E. Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the Church.
