Anthony Steven Whittington

Anthony Steven Whittington, age 44, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. Anthony was born the son of Steven Jackson and Virginia Whittington Corpening on March 14, 1974 in Burke County.

Anthony had a “Big Heart”. He always put other people’s needs before his own. Anthony was worked as a supervisor for Republic Service and was known for his sense of humor and comedic style. He was a loving son, father, brother and friend. Anthony will be greatly missed.

Along with his maternal and paternal grandparents, Anthony is preceded in death by two uncles.

Those left behind to cherish Anthony’s memory include his mother, Virginia W. Corpening of Hickory; his father, Steven Jackson of Shelby; his son, Steven Thomas Whittington and significant other Karma H. Dumas of Morganton; three sisters, Makesha Whittington of Lenoir, Latasha Lynch and her husband Lee of Lenoir and Jennifer Corpening of Morganton; and four honoree children, Javal Howell, Danielle Ellis, Joseph Rhubright and Charleigh Hile. Also surviving are a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and a special canine pet, Rowdy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, February 11, 2019 in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at 3776 Kathy Rd.
