

Our gracious and kind Heavenly Father returned for a soldier in His army, Mrs. Beatrice Marie Conley Poole, 73, of 3500 Sun Down Road, Morganton, NC. She answered the call of the Lord on Saturday, October 16, 2010, while at the Carolina Rehab Center of Burke after a period of declining health. She was born January 27, 1937, in Burke County to the late William “Buster” Conley and Gladys Elizabeth Avery Conley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Poole was also preceded in death by her husband, Leroy “Jack” Poole and a brother, Clyde S. Avery, brother-in-laws, George, Robert, Herbert, William ”go bell” , John James Poole and a sister-in-law, Irene Mayo.
She was a member of the Shiloh A.M.E. Church where she served on the Ladies Aide Club. At a very young age she was a member of the Church choir and played the piano. She participated in other organizations as well.
Being an avid book reader, she spent most of her time working on the bookmobile of the local library during her high school years. Beatrice graduated from the former Olive Hill High School in 1956. She was employed at Broughton Hospital where she retired after 33 years of service.
Her loving family circle includes her children, Harvey L. Poole, Clarissa Poole & Fiancé`, Lee Toms and Neal W. Poole, all of Morganton;
And her beloved dog, “Chomper”.
Three brothers, her pork rind eating buddy and best friend, William “Bill” Conley (Alice Kathleen), of Morganton, Thomas Conley of High Point and Harry A. Conley of Morganton;
Two sisters, Janet E. Wilson and Ida “Jean” Carter (Robert), both of Morganton;
Two grandchildren, Clarissa M. Poole and Harvey L. Poole, Jr.;
Two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and a grand circle of dear friends.
Graveside Services will be held 3:00 PM, Friday, October 22, 2010, at the Shiloh A.M.E. Church Cemetery with Reverends H.S. Williams, Tommy Carpenter and Herbert Carter, Presiding. The family will receive friends 1:00 PM – 2:30PM, Friday, October 22, 2010 at Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Burke County, Carolina Rehab of Burke, Dr. Lori Robinson and Nurse, Bernice, for the compassionate and professional care they provided for Mrs. Poole.
