

Hazel White, age 83, of Morganton, passed away Friday, September 16th 2011 while a patient at the Burke Hospice Care Facility. Born March 19, 1928 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Lawson Houck and Artie Dale Houck. Hazel was of the Baptist Faith and was retired from Shadowline Textiles. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and vacationing in Mississippi. Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents, Hazel is preceded in death by her son, Steve White, three brothers and three sisters.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her daughter, Glenda Johnson of Morganton; granddaughters, Amanda McGee and her husband, Craig of Morganton and Brandi White Elkins and her husband, Andy of Ellisville, MS; and four great grandchildren, Ivy and Dru Elkins, and Stevee and Statlee McGee. She is also survived by a special friend, Clyde “Scrapper” Carswell of Morganton, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Silver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Culbertson officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Amanda McGee and request that memorials be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
