

Caroll Frances Baker Pledger, age 89, of Morganton, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022. Caroll was born the daughter of the late Art Baker and Elsie Whitener Baker on March 5, 1932 in Burke County. Caroll was a member of Denton's Chapel UMC and a big Carolina Panthers fan. She was a loving wife, mother, an extremely doting grandmother, sister and friend. Caroll will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents, Caroll is preceded in death by her husband, Willie "Bill" Ray Pledger, a daughter, Susan Janean Dupuis; a son, Mark William Pledger; and a sister, Myra Cassady.
Those left behind to cherish Caroll's memory include her four grandchildren, Christal Bustle and her husband Josh, Melissa Griffin and her husband Jamey, Joseph Dupuis and his wife Amanda and Samantha Marie Pledger; 12 great grandchildren, Brittany Dupuis, AmberLee Barber, McKinzie Feimster, Jayce Bustle, Dalton Rogers, Skyler Dupuis, JR Dupuis, Lydia Dupuis, Dre Williams, Jackson Dupuis, Connor and Kamdyn Schwarting; a great-great grandchild, Emelissa Francisco; and two sisters, Jeanie Lapp and Debbie Ormsby. Also surviving are numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Denton's Chapel United Methodist Church. Funeral services will start at 2:00 PM with Pastor Phillip Hefner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
