Catherine Clayton

Catherine was born to the late Robert Carl and Minnie Odell Moore McGuire in Cateechee, South Carolina, on November 20, 1924.

Catherine loved her community. A steadfast believer and prayer warrior, she was a member of the Cullowhee First Baptist Church, where she enjoyed her Sunday school class and singing in the choir. She served her community as an active member in the East La Porte chapter of the Eastern Stars, a fraternal organization committed to friendship, community service, diversity, and charity. At home, Catherine's penchant for gathering people together was always on display around her dining room table. She held family dinners and holiday celebrations over plates filled with beans, corn, squash, and ripe tomatoes from the garden outside, which she and her husband, Johnny cultivated with care.

She is survived by three generations of family, including: her daughter, Ann (Nick) Fowler and grandson Evan; her daughter, Janie (Gary) Lambert and grandsons Jonathon and Cody; and her son, David (Hope) Clayton and grandchildren Robin (Patsy), Aaron (Chris), Ansel (Kristen), and great-grandson, Rory.
