Elbert Lloyd McGimsey

Elbert Lloyd McGimsey, age 76, of Morganton, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Elbert was born to the late Willie Columbus McGimsey and Lillie Beatrice Connelly McGimsey on February 6, 1948 in Burke County.

Elbert was known for his kindness. He loved to having cookouts. He was a proud grandfather who loved his family and friends. He loved his Lord and Savior.

Along with his parents, Elbert is preceded in death by his wife, Jeannett Lipscomb McGimsey, two sisters, Lillie Mae McGimpsey and Ada McGimpsey Williams; and a brother, Gilbert McGimpsey; and a great grandson, Brayden Dennis.

Those left behind to cherish Elbert's memory include a son, Gerald McGimpsey of Morganton; two sisters, Pauline McGimpsey of Greensboro, NC and Anna McGimpsey of Southfield, MI; three granddaughters, Alessia McGimpsey Dennis (Bryant) of Newton, Leaynna McGimpsey of Virginia, Tydaysha McGimpsey of Morganton, two grandsons, Antonio McElrath of Morganton and D'shawn McGimpsey of Morganton great grandson, Blaize Dennis of Newton; a great granddaughter, Amylah Harris of Newton. Elbert is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Kirksey Funeral Home of Morganton.
