James "Andy" Andrew Branch Sr.

James “Andy” Andrew Branch, Sr., age 69 of Morganton, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 after a period of declining health. James was born the son of the late Albert “Jack” Branch and Lillie Mae Powell Branch on November 23, 1950 in Burke County.

Andy loved the outdoors and sitting on the front porch during sunny days. He enjoyed going to the flea market, listening to gospel music, surfing the web and playing computer games. Andy had a wonderful heart and loved helping others. He will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, Andy is preceded in death by a son, James Andrew Branch, Jr. and a brother, David Branch.

Those left behind to cherish Andy’s memory include six children, Todd Branch and his wife Augusta; Vickie Sketoe; Amy Hill; Mary Ann Rhyne and her significant other Jeff; Sheila Nivens and her husband Eddie; and Kathy Branch and her significant other John; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Cook; and a brother, Phil Branch and his wife Lynn. James is also survived by a special friend Betty Tanner.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 2, 2020 in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Vanbuskirk officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
