

Hambone was born to the late Mable Fullwood on September 30, 1922 in Catawba County. He attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Berrytown Road. Hambone worked for a short period of time for the Southern Railroad and later with Drexel Furniture (Heritage) for over 44 years.
Hambone is preceded in death by his parents, Mable Fullwood Hawkins and Jake Fullwood a sister, Beatrice Fullwood Johnson, a brother, Raymond Bettis; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Those left behind to cherish Hambone’s memory include his wife of 74 years, Helen Bradshaw Fullwood; three daughters, Annie Largent, Linda Sloan, and Lula Fullwood Jenkins and her husband, Harold; two sons, Jacob Fullwood and his wife Betty, and Paul Fullwood; an adopted son, Steve Surratt. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 24, 2016 in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with the Reverend Frances Tate officiating. Interment will follow at the Fullwood Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 4:00pm at the funeral Home.
