Janet Norem Pierce

Born on September 26, 1919 to Hilmer and Lydia (Jenny) Norem in Evanston, Illinois. Her family moved to Wilmington, Delaware when she was 10. She attended the University of Delaware and graduated from Goldey-Beacom Business College. She married Robert R. Pierce, Jr. in 1942 and they made their home in Wilmington, Delaware. She worked for the Brandywine Branch of the YMCA and as a bookkeeper at Brandywine High School in Wilmington.

In 1977, they retired to Pinehurst, NC, where they lived for 25 years before moving to Grace Ridge in Morganton.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Pierce; her brothers John and Robert Norem; and her sister, Nancy Norem Seale. She is survived by her daughter, the Rev. Priscilla Richter of Swannanoa, NC; and her son, Steven Pierce (Janice) of Old Fort, NC; two grandsons, Ben (Kris) Pierce of Burlington, NC, and Ryan Richter of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; and two great granddaughters, Emerson and Ellington Pierce.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 19th in the Ervin Community Room at Grace Ridge Retirement Center in Morganton.
