Larry was born July 21, 1959 at Offutt Air Base in Omaha, Nebraska, to Bud L. Brown, and wife Betty Moore Brown, currently of Lenoir, NC.
Larry was preceded in death by wife, Wanda; and father, Bud L. Brown.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Moore Brown, of Lenoir/Murphy, his sister, Deborah Brown of Murphy, NC, his grandson/little brother, Brenin Knox Brown, also of Murphy; a daughter, Emily Brown; and two grandchildren, Collin and Xavier.
He was a graduate of the Class of 1977 Hibriten High School; also, a graduate of Appalachian State University with a B.S. in Business; later attending Caldwell Community College completing a Physical Therapy Assistant degree.
He ran a summer day camp for two years at Blowing Rock Elementary School where he shared his love for children. He worked in several businesses and then practiced Physical Therapy until he was no longer able.
Larry was an Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He also loved rock climbing, hiking, camping, reading history, woodworking, drawing and sketching and dirt road rides, “where he talked to GOD and got closure”. In later years, he began each day with devotions and BIBLE reading. He had in his BIBLE “…he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” - Hebrews 11:6b
Larry’s family also remembers with deepest appreciation Patty Bottenfield of Rutherfordton, NC, for her many years of loving friendship and care, including her acting as Power of Attorney for him; and Vickie Loveless, of Morganton, NC, for her years as his landlady and daily loving care and kindness towards him throughout his many health challenges.
A private Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date, to be officiated by Pastor Ron Burgett of Harris Chapel Baptist Church, Hudson, NC.
